Title: Senior Legal Counsel — Yahoo! Southeast Asia (Location: Jakarta, Indonesia)

Yahoo! Southeast Asia is looking for an experienced lawyer (to be based in Jakarta) to join its high-energy Southeast Asia legal team. You will provide support for Yahoo!’s growing and diversifying operations in Indonesia. You will report to the General Counsel of Yahoo! Southeast Asia, with a dotted line to the General Manager of Yahoo! Indonesia.

Your day-to-day life will require the ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously while working independently towards their completion. The expectation is that within 3 months you will become an indispensable resource to the team.

Specific responsibilities:

The work will include using your proven transactional expertise to draft, review and negotiate various corporate and commercial agreements including licensing, marketing, content, distribution, e-commerce, channel and online media agreements relating to our advertising, search and mobile businesses, while supporting the organization on all matters legal. You will handle and manage general corporate and commercial matters, including litigation, product reviews, review advertising and promotions laws, ensure site and deal compliance with applicable laws, law enforcement, censorship and human rights issues and assist with corporate governance and corporate secretarial matters. You will support the Yahoo! office and business in Indonesia on all legal matters as required from time to time. You may also have regional, functional responsibilities for Southeast Asia. You will work closely with the Southeast Asia legal team in Singapore and outside counsel in Indonesia, and with many of Yahoo!’s U.S. and international in-house lawyers, as well as Yahoo!’s business, technical, and finance teams. Regular travel, in particular to Singapore, will be required.

Skills and Qualifications:

We are looking for an Indonesia qualified lawyer with at least eight years of relevant post-qualification experience, excellent academics, and sound commercial sense. Familiarity with internet, media and intellectual property laws and issues, regulatory and current corporate governance practices in Indonesia is preferred. The position also requires first rate drafting, analysis and communications skills, plus admission to the bar in Indonesia.  You will be bilingual in both English and Bahasa Indonesia, with excellent spoken and written skills in both. You must also have a love for the Internet, an understanding of online business models, and a great sense of humour. You must be able to work independently, manage tight deadlines and thrive in a high-pressure, fast-paced and constantly changing and evolving environment. You must be mature, innovative and posses creative problem solving skills.
